The Energy Enterprise Coach (EEC) is a flagship initiative that offers the best skills, services and expertise in business development services to support professionalisation of SMEs working in the clean energy sector in Africa and Asia (See target EEC countries here ), to foster their growth and development. Conceptualised and funded by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) and theEnergising Development (EnDev) partnership, EEC’s core aim is to provide an inclusive, solution-oriented approach to support a number of renewable energy enterprises (encompassing at least 25% women-owned) in order to accelerate their growth trajectory towards investmen readiness.

 The Energy Enterprise Coach is open to SMEs supported by SEE Clean Cooking programme, which includes the Africa Biogas Component (ABC) and the Higher Tier Clean Cooking Component (HTCC), and the Energising Development (EnDev) Partnership. Enterprises applying to the EEC will be pre-screened for eligibility (see eligibility requirements here) and thereafter undergo a detailed diagnostic assessment by EEC regional enterprise development specialists.

 Selected SMEs will be assigned suitable support based on the enterprise growth stage (startup, venture, growth and mature), and the nature and complexity of business development challenges faced. These business development services will be provided through one or more of the following three forms – e-learning, cohort training and individual mentoring.

This website focuses on the e-learning component of the EEC. This e-learning platform provides SMEs with access to e-learning content based on their identified business development needs. Each course on the platform is developed specifically considering the needs of renewable energy SMEs in Africa and Asia and includes sector-specific examples, case studies, tools and assignments. It has 10 courses covering topics such as business foundation, financial accounting, sales and marketing, among others. The platform also provides learners with access to e-mentorship support. The learners will receive a certificate for the successful completion of the course and related assessments.
